PageRank? overestimated

Speaking at the "Search Engine Marketing Expo in Santa Clara, California Peter Norvig, director of research at Google, said that the pagerank is too concerned.

"People think it's enough to make a calculation on the 'web graph' and then sort all pages by PageRank, in fact, this calculation is important, but not the only thing that makes Google."
"People think that if you do not have a good pagerank site is blocked, but we have never said that."

"People think we just do this computation on the web graph and order all the pages and that's it. That computation is important, but it's just one thing that we do. "
"People [Webmasters and Seos] always said, 'We're stuck if we do not have [a high PageRank].' But we never felt that way. We never felt that it was such a big factor. "

Google has removed in October last year, an indication of the pagerank of the site from Google Webmaster Tools: "We removed the pagerank because it seemed stupid to tell people not to think about and then show them the data ...."
